Sapa Overview

Located in the far North of Vietnam, Sapa is famous for its breathtaking mountain landscape, great diversity of ethnic minority peoples, rich culinary culture and Indochina peak, the Fansipan. Sapa reflects the signature of French architecture and colorful hill tribal cultures.

There is no nearby airport the only option for getting Sapa is to travel by road or rail. Motorbike is another option, but we never recommend you this one because the roads in Sapa are pretty bendy and winding with steep cliffs. It is around 380 kilometers from Hanoi, you can visit Sapa with 2-day itinerary or more.

The most popular activity for travelers in Sapa is trekking. The mountain town is surrounded by the village of ethnic minority people. Cat Cat, Lao Chai, Ta Van village are some attractions you shouldn’t miss. From Sapa town, you can catch a taxi to visit legendary O Quy Ho pass, also known as Hoang Lien Son or May (Cloud) pass runs through the Hoang Lien Son range connecting Lai Chau and Lao Cai province. The pass is associated with a legend about the Love waterfall, where a fairy and a lumberjack named O Quy Ho met and fell in love. Fansipan Peak is also a highlight, it is the highest mountain in the Indochinese Peninsula (comprising Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia), hence its nickname "the Roof of Indochina". Travellers will be impressed by the stunning view of huge mountain range and spectacular terrace fields when riding the mountain train and cable car to Fansipan Peak.
